So, I've been a bit busy this month, in more ways than I can count. It's NaNoWriMo, so, as usual, I find myself trying to write an entire, full length book in the span of a single month. It's my third year doing it, with Mountain Princess and NOCHY Thrive being the books from the previous two years. But this year, I have this feeling like I'm not going to make it all the way through.
I've been busy at my day job, much more so than usual. The project that I've been on for almost two years is to create a new database, pulling data in from several other locations. We've spent much of that time finding ways not to make a database. But now we're close to finishing. So close, in fact, that the business people, in all their business-ness, decided that we were going to close the year out of our database... when we're nowhere near ready for that. So, we've been pushing to get the database good to go, which is a lot. A lot of long, hard days. Threats of having to work weekends. It's put me off my usual writing game, and filled much of my time already.
I've been running a lot. And I mean a lot. I've had weeks where I've run daily, or four days in the week. My main run is 3.66 miles, and I'm getting closer to doing the whole thing in a run, rather than having to drop down to a walk. Still a ways off, but I'm making progress. On top of all of that, it means I have to eat more. Which is both good and bad. But, eating more keeps the insomnia away... mostly.
In any case, even with everything seeming to come at me from all directions, the book is coming along nicely. It was a story that I had come up with a few years back, much like most of what I'm writing these days. There were mentions of the world, of Sport's World, in my NOCHY series. It's kind of a cross between the reluctant hero (but for sports) and an exploration of a world centered around something that shouldn't matter as much as it does. Remind you of anything? I'm trying to keep it from seeming too judgemental or condesending. It's coming out more of a speculative sci-fi than my normal books.
Anyway, I'll try to keep you guys more apprised with the stuff coming down the pipe. I'm still on track to get NOCHY Spy out next month, wrapping up my 24 in 24 releases. From there, I'll be having a more relaxed, but still frequent, release schedule. Sports World might be out some time next year. I just hope you guys enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying writing it.
