AI Laws - Fixing the Senate Amendment

​Section 1.

The Senate of the United States shall be composed of a total number of Senators equal to twice the number of States in the Union, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote.

​Section 2.

Following each decennial enumeration of the population as required by Article I, Section 2 of this Constitution, the total number of Senators shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State; provided, that every State shall be entitled to at least one Senator and no more than three.

​Section 3.

The provision in Article V of this Constitution declaring that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate, is hereby repealed. This article shall supersede any provision of Article I, Section 3, or the Seventeenth Amendment, that is inconsistent with the apportionment of Senators directed herein.

​Section 4.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation, including the establishment of procedures to maintain the division of Senators into three classes for the purpose of staggered elections following a reapportionment.
